Something a little different this week. No reverb, no 12 string, keyboard bass. It has 2 time signatures. The main verse is a 4/4 and the chorus is a 6/8 (I think...). Let me know if you can identify it for me... I'm more an ear guy than music theory guy... The lyrics are about a young person who is headed down the wrong path and blaming all their faults on the town where he/she lived instead of recognizing his/her own mistakes.
lyrics
I've been hanging on the wrong side of the tracks
I've been waiting for the old man to cut me some slack
I've been running from the long arm of the law
Twenty years old and I know I have it all
Why won't you set me free
This town is killing me
Why don't you set me free
I've been sleeping where the sun don't ever shine
I've been selling my soul just to pass the time
I've been doing some things that would make you cry
Every little word I say is a big ole lie
Why won't you set me free
This town is killing me
Why don't you set me free
I've been losing the shimmer in your eyes
I've been heading down this hole with no goodbyes
I've been a slave to the bottle and a wicked knife
I lie here dying in this alley what a wonderful life
Why won't you set me free
This town is killing me
Oh God set me free
