I tried to think about what I could possibly make use of an instrumental for, with all the projects I'm juggling right now. The best idea I had was to come up with something that might provide a later foundation for one of my retro-soul garage tracks. Moving in that direction, my first instinct was something Bar-Kays/Booker T-ish. I retained the four-piece arrangement concept, as well as the idea of tracking the M3 by directly mic'ing the internal speaker, with no Leslie. Beyond that, though, it took a slightly heavier and funkier turn. Then, I had to screw everything up by insisting on playing drums, myself, which just makes the process five times longer and compromised, rhythmically, from the get-go. But, hey, I had fun.
In all fairness, there is almost nothing at all autumnal about this. The minor 7th chords in a cloud of plate reverb have something of the howl of a midnight fall wind about it, but that's probably stretching it. Jerry, if you choose to put me on probation for this, I'll accept that. I may try to do a bonus track that's a little more autumnal, but I'm running out of time for the week ...
