Finished writing this song early in the week then we had a incident occur this week with my older son, reminded me of my teenage years and similar situations. Inspired a rewrite.
I will probably be able to change some stuff and use this so over all I think it was productive!
lyrics
It's alright, you can go to sleep you know that we'll be fine
Say goodnight, we'll be real quiet and promise not to fight.
We're ok, good night
Check it out, they've gone to bed and turned out all the lights.
Time to go, leave the tv on the volume turned down low
Sneaking out
Tonight
And while they were sleeping
We took the keys to the car
drove around the neighborhood
Donuts in the cul de sac
So sick from drinking all that wine
We didn't think it through
when we took all of the street signs
left them in the neighbors yard
It's alright, it's our turn now you know we'll be just fine
Nothings changed, you had yours now we will have the same
It's OK either way
So why are you sleeping
You should wake up now
And run into the living room
And help us put this fire out
Believe me it was a big mistake
Pretended to light fireworks and throw them in the fireplace
accidently dropped the match
I know it makes you crazy
you should understand
We're young we're dumb
And we never have a plan
know we'll make it through
and do the things you used to do and that's OK
It's alright we can go all out and do just what we like
So you know, sometimes we do exactly what we're told
See you out
