So...on the plus side I've got a lot of work now and I'm making money, which is awesome. On the minus side I don't have as much time for the production side of things and so these recordings are liable to be the bare bones bits of this album and will be lacking a lot of musical and arrangement material that I'd otherwise include. Also, there's a glaring screwup in the vocal (I straight up sing the wrong word), but it's midnight on Sunday and I ain't gonna have time to fix it...so it's just gonna have to be there. C'est la vie. If I find some time tomorrow I'll fix the error and re-upload, but it's extremely likely I won't, so it is what it is.
The character has begun his journey through his life, and he's talking about his parent's divorce. 10/10 this is not biographical I fuckin' swear. Totally. Dammit.
lyrics
Carolina sunshine
The stifling of the heat
Smell of summer showers
The sweet decay of meat
Oh Lord I pray
Oh Lord I pray
Children somewhere laughing
Our neighbors were so kind
The twilight of the idols
A monad in the mind
Just for today
Please let me stay
In grassy hills we staved sunshine
In loving arms we intertwined
Mom and Dad they said, “so long”
Kids themselves, it went all wrong
What’s left to say
Dad went away
Plywood television
The passing of the time
Mama’s still out working
She burnt up all her prime
It’s your birthday
Just run away
In grassy hills we staved sunshine
In loving arms we intertwined
Mom and Dad they said, “so long”
Kids themselves, it went all wrong
What’s left to say
Dad went away
Rain upon the windows
Leaves, they hide the ground
Running round in circles
Smothering the sound
What did I say
Oh Lord I pray
