I set out to write a song about my wife and myself getting pulled over on the way home from a gig late one night hence the line "drive it like you stole it" but it really took a turn and evolved into an entire song about Trump. oops.To be fair- we bitched a lot about him this weekend so it's relevant.
lyrics
Tweet that you’re self-made, tweet that you’re smart
Tell us all about your deals tell us all about the art-
It doesn’t matter if any of it’s true and you can tweet that too
Then get yourself a car and drive it like you stole it, and get yourself a life and live it like you know it could be over in an instant, even if you’re innocent
So you might as well be guilt of something,
Yea you might as well be taken cause the world ain’t givin’ nothing
You might as well quit caring whether you’re a good person, cause the rest of the world is cut-pursing’
And we all assume you got some sort of scam that you’re running, so you might as well be guilty of something, yeah guilty of something
cheat on your taxes, cheat on your wife
Tell em that you’re poor, tell her she’s the love of your life
Then ask yourself ‘what would JC do?’ Then cheat him too
Then get yourself a car and drive it like you stole it, and get yourself a life and live it like you know it could be over in an instant, even if you’re instant
So you might as well be guilt of something,
Yea you might as well be taken cause the world ain’t givin’ nothing
You might as well quit caring whether you’re a good person, cause the rest of the world is cut-pursing’
And we all assume you got some sort of scam that you’re running, so you might as well be guilty of
Fraud against the American people
Who hold these truths that all men are equal
And there’s red on our flag
But these colors are stunning
So you might as well be guilty of something
Now get yourself a car and drive it like you stole it, and get yourself a life and live it like you know it could be over in an instant, even if you’re instant
So you might as well be guilt of something,
Yea you might as well be taken cause the world ain’t givin’ nothing
You might as well quit caring whether you’re a good person, cause the rest of the world is cut-pursing’
And we all assume you got some sort of scam that you’re running, so you might as well be guilty of something, be guilty of something
Mmhmm
