Well, by no means could you call this a good song. I wanted to do something upbeat and rocking this week, and I particularly wanted to play drums. Sometimes you realize early on in the songwriting process that an idea doesn't have enough meat on its bones. Ideally, I like to start working on these MM3AM songs early enough in the week so that I can abandon ship when that happens, but sometimes, lord knows, you just have to go down with the ship in order to get a song in. This is one of those weeks, alas.
lyrics
Someone should’ve told you
your lonely ways won’t hold you
when nights are getting colder again
Been standing by your side here
there’s nowhere left to hide, dear,
you got me crawling out of my skin
Never saw it coming
Though everything was crumbling
But you never even opened your eyes
Anyone could tell you
The lies they tried to sell you
Cut your ego down to size
Told you that you shoulda been running
You just laughed and played your violin
Now I’m standing on the top of the mountain
While you’re waiting for the truth to sink in
So how long will it last you
Your pride, I watched it blast you
Screaming ‘bout your misery
And when you make your landing
You find the last one standing
Hope you like your company
Someone should’ve told you
your lonely ways won’t hold you
when nights are getting colder again
Been standing by your side here
there’s nowhere left to hide, dear,
you got me crawling out of my skin
Told you that you shoulda been running
You just laughed and played your violin
Now I’m standing on the top of the mountain
While you’re waiting for the truth to sink in
