What makes a soul catch fire Is it a broken heart Is it the way we're wired Are you born with the flame or are we taught desire I can feel it grow Burning higher Is it buried deep In my bones Can I keep it hid is it beyond my control Is it a choice or a part of my soul Can I let go? I'm gonna break through the walls, bust down the doors I'm climbing higher than I've been before You will see the burns on my soul and then you will know I have been through the fire Can I cut it down an instinctual voice drums beat loud do I have a choice My heart is pounding blood in my veins is it a gift or a ball and chain Will I ever see if I'm lost or found Does it lift me up or bring me down Is it a joke played by a higher power Can I be at peace or will it stay until my final hour I'm gonna break through the walls, bust down the doors I'm climbing higher than I've been before You will see the burns on my soul and then you will know I have been through the fire Take a look at my eyes, you can see the scars A beast in a cage, breaking through the bars Smoke through my skin, rising higher There's no doubt I have been through the fire mmmhmmm

Red white and blue Used like a shield What do we really stand for? Money flows true Power and fear Locked in a moment, dying to be here I’m proud of the place I call home Not perfect doesn’t need to be Share this this world, our family Hypocratic shitbags Sympathetic eyes Supermarket news rags Trapped by your lies Peckers and hand grenades Lemons make lemonade Understand watergate, promise not too late

Drove the girls crazy and he Spent his days hazy Had that Hollywood debonair Liked the black tar And he played a good guitar With a highlight in his hair Had a weak spot And them girls was so hot They got him all in a twist Same ol’ story They was brain dead horny And my home boy he was pissed Don’t you lose yo’ mind boy Don’t you set it aside They been tellin’ you lies boy They got them devilish eyes Took him down a dark street Barely stand on his feet To a house of known ill repute My boy didn’t know But he’d played a good show Feelin’ like God’s gift to you Took him downstairs Ran some fingers through his hair Said he was the damn sure greatest thing Knew what they was doin’ Didn’t know that he was losin’ When they brought out the good champagne Don’t you lose yo’ mind boy Don’t you set it aside They been tellin’ you lies boy They got them devilish eyes Man marched him outside When they was done telling lies Twas a burly dude with neck tattoos Said it’s been fun Now the night’s all done He didn’t have a damn cent left to lose He picked himself up He was feeling’ mighty rough Mornin’ heat was a little much Shoulda known better Girls were so much wetter for the dollars Rather than your touch

wildfires burnin through the redwoods rivers running drowning the neighborhoods children crying, motors dying there’s people still justifying they’ll justify the greed, justify the hate they’ll never be on time but they’ll justify the wait they’ll justify their actions to hell with the consequence cause they can justify their ignorance theres dead men walking on legs they’ll never owns soldiers marching to the great unknown now theres mothers crying children dying and people still justifying they’ll justify the greed, justify the hate they’ll never be on time but they’ll justify the wait they’ll justify their actions to hell with the consequence cause they can justify their ignorance I’ll wait for you on the right side of history cause changing your mind is some kind of misery Keep your ear up and listen for a crack that’s the sound of the pendulum swinging back they’ll justify the greed, justify the hate they’ll never be on time but they’ll justify the wait they’ll justify the action to hell with the consequence cause they can justify their ignorance they’ll justify their ignorance

about

This week’s assignment, from Mitchell:

"'I did it my way'

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I often create my own restrictions for MM3AM work. Contrary to what ya might think, I find restrictions freeing.
This week, I want you to come up with two or three of your own restrictions/ challenges. They can be anything you'd like 'em to be.
Examples: "I will never use the same noun twice," "I will only use two instruments on this track," "My song will be exactly 237 syllables," and so on.
Do it your way, but make your rules before you begin writing and stick to them once you start.
